Five Things I’m Looking Forward To

The Cutest Ruffle Bag

Happy Friday!  I feel like this week has FLOWN by!  Today’s post a little different, but, truthfully, writing it made me smile.

Every once in awhile I find myself is an emotional funk.  It doesn’t help that the older I get, the worse my PMS seems to get (sorry if this TMI, but it’s true).  I feel like I am a very happy and enthusiastic person by nature, but there are times when something totally random can diminish my spirit.  Sometimes it’s because I’m comparing myself to someone else or to someone else’s success or, sometimes, just because I feel overwhelmed by my never-ending to-do list!  Or, heck, maybe it just part of being a woman?  Regardless the reason, I’ve realized that there are two things that can always make me feel so much better.  1) Spending quality time with the Lord.  2) Making a list of things I’m thankful for and/or things I have to look forward to.  Today I thought I would share a few!

FIVE THINGS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO

ONE //  Summer time!  Camden graduates Pre-K next week (cue the water works) so it’s our last summer before he starts “big kid school”.  Several of my friends also have children starting kindergarten next year so we’ve decided to make this our most fun summer yet!  We’re planning a big end-of-school summer bash, lots of play dates, activities, and trips together!  I can’t wait to make so many great memories with my family and theirs!

TWO // Home renovations.   Later this summer Kyle and I are starting renovations on our home.  We’re gutting out our kitchen and doing new floors and paint throughout the house.  And, if we can squeeze it into our budget, we’re going to update our master bathroom.  Kyle and I have gone back and forth for YEARS on our house.  Do we move or do we stay and renovate?  Move or renovate?  Move or renovate?  We’ve literally been 100% set on moving and then after praying about it, we always change our mind.  I’m not sure why exactly, but we just feel like staying in our current home, for now, is best.  I’m just happy that the decision is finally made and set in stone!  I’m also very excited to share our renovation process with all of you!  Speaking of, I’m really hoping I can get our patio update on the blog late next week!

THREE //  Vacations!  We have a family vacation planned with friends and then Kyle and I are taking a trip, just the two of us, later this summer.  I’m looking forward to both SO MUCH!  We’re also hoping to do a few quick weekend trips with the kids as well.  That’s one great thing about our kids’ ages right now, they get so excited just by staying in a hotel!  Ha!

FOUR //  Babies!  No, no, I’m not having anymore babies.  BUT one of my best friends is adopting a baby girl who is due any day now.  I can’t wait to meet her!  She shares more about her adoption journey HERE.  Also, my little sister is due very soon!  I can’t wait to meet my new niece, Piper Joyce.

FIVE //  Justin Timberlake!  I’m going to his concert in just a couple of weeks and I literally CAN’T FREAKING WAIT!  I have been a die-hard JT fan since the beginning.  I may have shed actual tears when he and Brittney Spears split up.  I’m going to the concert with some of my girlfriends and I surprised my older sister with a ticket for her birthday.  She flipped out!!  Needless to say, we are all VERY excited!

OUTFIT DETAILS

Top //  This tunic is a closet staple!  It was actually one of Nordstrom’s top selling items during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale; it’s so versatile and only $27.  If between sizes, I would definitely size down as it runs a little big.  It looks see-through online, but I always just wear a nude bra and it’s fine.  However, if you want, you could also wear a cami underneath.  Also, if you prefer an option that isn’t so long, there is a shorter option HERE.  I also styled this in my Five Ways to Style Faux Leather Leggings post.

Black Jeans //  These are my favorite black pants, EVER!  They fit like a glove and I’ve washed them over a dozen times and the color never fades.  These are kind of a splurge, but I know I’ll wear them year after year.  These fit TTS; if you’re between sizes I would go up rather than down.

Wedges // If you follow me on Instagram then you know how much I love these!  I have them in black and in the nude color.  If you’re looking for a similar pair with a more affordable price, I found a great dupe HERE.

Grey Satchel //  This grey ruffle bag from Sole Society is quickly because my new fave!  Those ruffles, y’all!  So darn cute!  It has a cross-body strap and also comes in two other colors.  It’s $65 and FREE shipping!

Necklace //  This layered necklace is just $13!  It’s a great option to wear with v-neck blouses!

Earrings //  These are the Kendra Scott earrings that I shared in THIS post.  They also come in other colors; they are lightweight and great for everyday!
